Commercial Strategy Analyst - Energy Transition

The Position

As a Commercial Strategy Analyst within our Customer Value Proposition team, you will play a key role in developing and scaling innovative solutions that help customers reduce their carbon footprint. The team focuses on creating differentiated, scalable propositions for VAROPreem that address real customer challenges en deliver competitive advantage.

In this role, you will contribute to the full lifecycle of customer propositions, from onboarding and business case development to pricing, reporting, and strategic initiatives. Working closely with commercial, product, marketing, and sustainability teams, you will translate data into actionable insights that shape commercial strategies and accelerate the growth of decarbonization solutions across key segments such as road transport and marine.

Your Key Responsibilities

Customer acquisition

  • Support onboarding processes for new products (e.g., renewable power supply for EV) to ensure smooth transition from contract to delivery;

  • Provide analytical support to sales teams, including commercial modelling, margin analysis, and price benchmarking;

  • Assist in developing customer proposals and pricing strategies aligned with value propositions and business goals;

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports tracking commercial performance, customer behavior, proposition uptake, and value metrics.

Portfolio management

  • Act as custodian of the proposition development pipeline, ensuring initiatives are clearly scoped, prioritized, and tracked;

  • Support business development managers and sector go-to-market teams in delivering and scaling propositions;

  • Maintain visibility on progress, risks, dependencies, and business impact;

  • Facilitate coordination across product, marketing, strategy, and commercial teams.

Strategy & Insights Support

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and improvement areas across sectors and customer segments;

  • Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and proposition performance;

  • Generate data-driven insights to support strategic decisions on pricing, portfolio evolution, customer experience, and growth opportunities;

  • Assess regulatory and policy changes and their impact on customer preferences, commercial performance, and total cost of ownership (TCO);

  • Translate insights into strategic recommendations and support scenario modelling, business cases, and planning cycles.

Your Profile

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Energy Management, Finance, Data/Analytics, or a related field;

  • 4–5 years of professional experience in commercial analytics, pricing, energy/fuel markets, consulting, customer insights, or proposition development;

  • Strong commercial acumen combined with hands-on analytical capabilities and a solid understanding of the energy value chain, customer needs, and market dynamics;

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI);

  • Experience working cross-functionally and presenting insights to both commercial and technical stakeholders;

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights;

  • Experience supporting costumer value proposition or business development initiatives is a plus;

  • Knowledge of customer segmentation, go-to-market strategies and processes is preferred;

  • Familiarity with low-carbon energy markets (e.g., biofuels, renewable power, EV charging, biomethane, certificates) is an advantage;

  • Understanding of ESG frameworks, GHG calculations, and sustainability reporting is a plus.
