The group owns a refinery in Switzerland, a majority share of a refinery in Germany, more than 50 (bio)fuels storage facilities throughout Switzerland, Germany, France and the Benelux and has the logistical expertise and infrastructure to transport products from the refineries and the terminals to its customers.

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager for our Benelux Terminals, based in Geertruidenberg.
THE POSITION
As Engineering Manager BNLX, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the long-term engineering and asset investment strategy across all VARO terminals. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of a multi-project capital portfolio, ensuring that investments are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. In addition, you will take direct ownership as project manager for the portfolio of VARO Benelux terminals, overseeing progress, quality, and budget to guarantee timely and successful project delivery.
A key part of the role is driving continuous improvement. This entails optimizing processes and organizational structures, and strengthening the contractual framework agreements with key business partners. Through these efforts, you will ensure that terminal infrastructure remains sage, reliable, cost-efficient, and future-ready, fully aligned with business growth, regulatory requirements, and operational performance targets.
In this position, you will be reporting to the Manager Technical Services and collaborate with multiple internal (Ops, Finance, HSEQ, Commercial, Supply Chain) and external stakeholders.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the 5–10 year terminals CAPEX roadmap for all terminals, balancing lifecycle asset replacement, modernization, decarbonization and growth investments;
Lead annual CAPEX budgeting and prioritization process for all terminals, build robust business cases, NPV/IRR analyses, risk assessments, and portfolio trade-offs;
Track benefits realization and post-investment reviews to validate ROI and institutionalize lessons learned;
Act as Project Manager for a large portfolio overseeing end-to-end delivery of a multi-project capital program and report portfolio status via dashboards covering KPIs, risks/opportunities, cash flow, and forecast-to-complete;
Coordinate internal engineering resources and external partners to meet time, cost, quality, safety targets;
Drive contracting strategy and competitive tendering, ensuring robust technical specifications and supplier performance management;
Safeguard compliance with HSEQ, regulatory, environmental, and permitting requirements across all projects while also standardizing technical standards;
Lead development and maintenance of framework agreements with key business -and engineering partners;
Embed lean principles and digital tooling to improve cycle time, reliability, and cost efficiency;
Champion a lessons-learned and knowledge management culture; facilitate root cause analyses and corrective/preventive action programs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering or related discipline;
At least 8 years of experience in terminal, ports, logistics, oil/gas/chemicals, or industrial infrastructure;
At leat 5 years of experience managing CAPEX projects/portfolio’s;
A Proven track record delivering multi-million EUR projects with stage-gate governance and strong project controls;
Experience with contracting strategies, framework agreements, and supplier performance management;
Familiarity with HSSEQ, regulatory compliance, and permitting in an industrial/terminal environment;
Proficiency in financial modeling, ROI/NPV analysis, and CAPEX governance;
Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and verbal.
