About the job

As an IT Business Analyst & Project Manager, you will be at the heart of VAROPreem’s refinery operations, supporting a network of three strategic sites across Switzerland and Sweden. This role places you right where technology meets industrial excellence—working at the crossroads of IT, Refinery Automation, and Industrial Automation (DCS/SCADA).

You will lead and deliver multiple IT initiatives that keep our refineries running safely, efficiently, and without interruption. From driving digital solutions to safeguarding the continuity of critical operational applications, your work will directly shape the reliability and performance of VARO’s refining business.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Drive end‑to‑end project delivery by analyzing scope, requirements, and operational challenges—translating them into actionable solutions and continuous improvements that ensure seamless execution from kickoff to completion.

  • Serve as a strategic connector between refinery operations, IT teams, and senior leadership, ensuring alignment, clarity, and shared ownership of project goals.

  • Lead diverse project teams fostering strong collaboration and maintaining momentum across multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Optimize resources and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial targets.

  • Navigate complex challenges, including resource constraints, budget considerations and equipment needs, by facilitating productive discussions and driving pragmatic, business‑focused solutions.

  • Collaborate with the IT team across VARO’s European locations, working closely with teams in Business Solutions, Architecture, Infrastructure Management, and the Service Desk to deliver cohesive and scalable outcomes.

  • Oversee the full ecosystem of refinery applications and tools, managing daily operations, enhancements, licensing, vendor relationships, and contract oversight to ensure uninterrupted business continuity.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in IT, or Applied Science, or equivalent

  • At least 7 years of experience in IT consulting roles in an industrial environment

  • Fluent in French and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Expertise in Industrial Automation (DCS/ SCADA), understand the ISA-95 model

  • Has experience with typical refinery systems like CMMS/ Enterprise Asset Management, Workflow Automation, Asset Reliability, Turn around planning/ management

  • Strong understanding of IT software, networks, infrastructure, and applied computer languages

  • Available to travel to our locations on a case-by-case basis

  • Willingness to perform 24hours on call support in a rotational model
