We are looking for an experienced IT Business Analyst & Project Manager for our Rotterdam office. In this senior role, you will operate at the intersection of IT operations, business processes, and project delivery within a complex, multi-site terminal environment. The position blends strategic project leadership with hands-on operational support, driving continuity, efficiency, and innovation across the IT landscape.

You will manage a diverse portfolio of initiatives, ranging from system enhancements and automation projects to daily ITSM activities such as incident handling, service requests, and business support. A key part of your role is maintaining seamless communication between departments, ensuring that information flows efficiently and that all stakeholders remain aligned.

As IT Business Analyst & Project Manager, you will be expected to work autonomously, make informed decisions, and act as a trusted advisor to both operational teams and senior leadership. Your work directly contributes to the reliability, safety, and modernization of the company’s terminal operations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze project scope, requirements, and challenges, identifying solutions to ensure smooth execution;

  • Act as a bridge between operational staff, IT teams, and C-level stakeholders, aligning project goals across various levels of the organization;

  • Lead multiple project teams of varying sizes and compositions, ensuring efficient collaboration;

  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget;

  • Resolve conflicts related to resources, including staff, budget, and equipment, by facilitating discussions and driving solutions;

  • Collaborate closely with the distributed IT teams across VAROPreem’s European locations, which includes Business Solutions, Architecture, Service Desk, and Infrastructure Management;

  • Report to the Team Lead Business Applications for Terminals, based in the Rotterdam office.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Business Administration, or related fields, or equivalent work experience;

  • 10+ years of experience in IT consulting roles within terminals, logistics, or industrial environments;

  • Expertise in Terminal Automation Systems (TAS) and/or Industrial Automation (SCADA);

  • Strong understanding of IT software, networks, infrastructure, and applied computer languages, as well as proficiency in IT methodologies (ITIL, COBIT, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, SDLC);

  • Experience in IT-business alignment in a downstream oil company or similar industries and a high level of resilience and adaptability in dynamic, safety-critical environments;

  • Fluency in Dutch and English (written & verbal);

  • Willingness to travel across sites in Europe as needed for project activities;

  • Valid driver’s license.
