Junior Business Controller
Hours: Fulltime, 40 hours
Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands
The Position
Are you ready to kick-start your career in Business Control at an international energy company that is shaping the future of energy? As a Junior Business Controller, you will join our Business Control team and gain broad exposure to both financial processes and business performance. You will not only support key activities such as monthly performance reporting and the annual planning cycle, but also play an active role in analyzing business performance and translating insights into action.
In addition, you will contribute to projects that improve organizational efficiency, such as optimizing reporting cycles and developing new BI dashboards. We encourage you to identify opportunities for improvement, take ownership of your ideas, and work closely with colleagues across the business to make a real impact.
Your Key Responsibilities
Independently process and review purchase and sales invoices, including validation of quantities and prices;
Monitor, identify and investigate overdue Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) positions;
Detect and resolve issues that may impact accurate and timely invoice processing;
Handle ad hoc queries from customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders;
Collaborate with internal departments to improve processes and maintain oversight of business activities;
Contribute to and drive process improvements, including workflow and system (IT) optimizations;
Support monthly closing activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data;
Prepare, book and issue final invoices during closing cycles; Perform various administrative and financial tasks as required.
Your Profile
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Control, Business Economics, or a related field;
1–3 years of relevant experience in a finance or controlling role, with exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and projects;
You have a hands-on, pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to implement improvements effectively;
You have strong analytical skills, with a willingness to dive into the details and translate insights into action;
You are a collaborative team player who is equally comfortable working independently;
You have excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and an openness to feedback;
Flexible, proactive, and energized by working in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, is who you are;
You are driven by continuous improvement and delivering business value;
Experience with JD Edwards and Power BI is a plus (not a must);
Knowledge of the oil, fuel trading, or energy sector, including derivatives, is a big advantage.
